- Total settlement fund of $32 million
A huge $32 Million dollar pet food settlement has been reached for closure of a class action lawsuit stemming from allegations that Blue Buffalo Company, Ltd. pet foods labeling falsely claimed that the products were free from chicken, corn, wheat, soy, or artificial preservatives. Blue Buffalo disagrees and stands by its labeling and admits no wrong doing but has agreed to settle the suit to avoid further ligation costs.
This gigantic $32 million settlement is available to partially reimburse Class Members (anyone who purchased Blue Buffalo products in the United States between May 7th, 2008 and December 18th, 2015) for their purchases with $8,000,000 of the settlement funds going to pay legal fees and another $1,400,000 going to pay expenses and administrative costs. Blue Buffalo has also agreed to take another look at their products to ensure that they are consistent with all packaging claims found on the products. Furthermore, Blue Buffalo is going to have to have a talk with its suppliers in order to ensure that all materials provided comply with the product specifications.
