Fry’s Food was founded in 1954 and Drug is a division of the Kroger Company. This popular grocery store is a major player in the state of Arizona with over 100 locations. Fry’s was originally founded by businessman Donald Fry in Contra Costa County, California. The drop dead date for the merge with Kroger was approved on May 27, 1999 by the FTC. This merger was a crowning achievement in the life of Fred Meyer who was the CEO of Smith’s Food and Drug at the time.
